Back to the ER (June 3-4, 2024)

Updated: Jun 25, 2024

After Ali’s first abdominal paracentesis, where they drained fluid from her abdomen, the discomfort unfortunately returned. The build-up of fluid was causing her a lot of pain, and Ali made the tough decision to head back to the ER.

Our experience in the ER was challenging once again. We faced a long wait before Ali could be admitted to a room, which only added to the stress and discomfort she was already feeling. After several hours, we were finally admitted, and Ali spent the night in the hospital.

The medical team decided that another abdominal paracentesis was needed to relieve her discomfort. Thankfully, this procedure went smoothly. The nurses who performed it were wonderful, ensuring that the process was as comfortable as possible for Ali.

This time, they removed a total of 3 liters of fluid, which provided significant relief. After the procedure, Ali was able to leave the hospital just a few hours later. We’re grateful for the care she received and the relief this brought her, even as we continue to navigate these difficult times together.
