Abdominal Paracentesis #6 (July 31, 2024)

Updated: Oct 4, 2024

Just wanted to give you all an update on Ali. She had an 8:00 AM abdominal paracentesis scheduled at Vanderbilt Hospital downtown today, and they got her right in for the procedure, which was great. We’ve been having pretty good luck with appointments lately... knock on wood!

They removed a total of 2.5 liters of fluid, which is a positive sign that the fluid buildup is slowing down. This matches up with what Dr. Michael Gibson predicted after a couple of chemotherapy treatments.

Tomorrow morning, Ali is scheduled to get her bloodwork analyzed again. This will help the doctors decide if she can get another round of chemotherapy. Originally, this was set for next week, but they moved it up. If her bloodwork looks good and they go ahead with the chemo, we’ll be at the hospital for about 7 hours for two of the medications. Then, she’ll have a take-home chemotherapy medication that will last another 46 hours.

Thanks for all the continued support and positive vibes. We’ll keep you posted.
