Chemotherapy Round II (July 5, 2024)

We had a busy morning with two prep appointments lined up. The first one was from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, to take some blood and get a baseline of Ali's current stats.

The second followed right after from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM with Dr. Matthew Bumbalough. We went over Ali’s current medications to see if any adjustments were needed before her upcoming chemotherapy session.

At 11:30 AM, they kicked off the Chemotherapy treatment, Round II. They told us it would take around 5 hours to complete. The mix of chemotherapy drugs, primarily Carboplatin and Paclitaxel, makes Ali very drowsy. They also mix in Benadryl and steroids, so she ended up sleeping through most of the treatment.

Ali's sister and Keith sat with her the entire time, just keeping her company and making sure she was comfortable. We were finally discharged at 5:00 PM.

Since chemotherapy lowers her immune system, we’re going to have to start taking extra precautions to keep her from getting sick.

Her next chemotherapy session is scheduled three weeks from now for July 25th.
