12th Day In Hospital: No Final Answer On Endoscopy Or Surgery Yet (November 18, 2024)

Today has been another long but steady day in Ali’s journey here at Vanderbilt. While last night wasn’t the best for sleep, Ali did manage to rest better than the night before, largely because the nasogastric (NG) tube was removed. It’s amazing how something like that, though necessary at the time, can make such a difference once it’s gone. A little more comfort goes a long way.

As for the medical side of things, the doctors and surgeons have been in constant discussions about the best approach for Ali’s unique situation. I’m no expert, but the sheer amount of time, collaboration, and attention they’re putting into this feels significant. It’s clear there isn’t going to be an easy, straightforward solution here. They’re carefully weighing every option, and while it’s hard to wait for answers, it’s comforting to know they’re leaving no stone unturned.

We’re still in the thick of it, and the uncertainty is tough, but Ali continues to show so much resilience. Every small victory, like better sleep, is a reminder to take things one day at a time.
